Storyboard Text

  • Quote : "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." - Chapter 3 (ATTICUS)
  • Quote:"You might hear some ugly talk about it at school, but do one thing for me if you will: you just hold your head high and keep those fists down. No matter what anybody says to you, don't you let 'em get your goat. Try fighting with your head for a change." - Chapter 9
  • Quote: "People in their right minds never take pride in their talents." - Chapter 10
  • Explanation: In this quote, Atticus is trying to explain to Scout that she should not judge a person if she has not experienced what that person has been through. (Walter Cunnigham)
  • QUOTE: "'Your father does not know how to teach. You can have a seat now.' (Miss Caroline Fisher)
  • MISS CAROLINE FISHER
  • Explanation: Atticus tells Scout that not all problems are worth fighting for. She needs to control her temper and not let others get the better of her by making her angry.
  • Quote: "Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." - Chapter 10
  • Explanation: A sensible person should act in a humble way.
  • Quote: "I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what." - Chapter 11
  • Explanation: Scout's teacher tells her this after she finds out Scout can read and write. This makes Scout feel bad.
  • Explanation: Mocking birds symbolize innocence because they do no harm and they sing beautifully. That is why Atticus thinks it is a sin.
  • Explanation: Atticus tells this to Jem. The meaning of this quote is that carrying a gun doesn't make you a man. Courage is when you try difficult things and still try.
