  • "That wont happen, he'll come back he always does"
  • What is empathy? Is it an important characteristic? Explain
  • "S'pose he gets killed or hurt so he can't come back."
  • "Who hurt George?
  • In this scene, Crooks was teasing Lennie saying, "What if George leaves you?" Lennie relys on their friendship and trusts George to stay with him which Steinbeck uses to answer the essential question by showing us that true friendship is having characteristics like being trustworthy. The author wants us to understand that friendship is to be there for eachother always.
  • In this scene, Crooks was asking Lennie "What if George dies or gets hurt?" Lennie says "That wont happen. He'll come back," which Steinbeck uses to answer the essential question by showing us that George's duty to Lennie is to be there for him and to be loyal. The author wants us to understand that friendship is a responsiblity to be there for the other person.
  • In this scene Crooks is asking Lennie "S'pose he gets killed or hurt so he cant come back." Lennie says "Who hurt George?" which Steinbeck uses to answer the essential question by showing us that Lennie has empathy for George because he's worried that someone hurt George. The author wants us to understand a true friendship means you have to have empathy for eachother.
