The story begins with a little girl named Myop that lives on a sharecropper property around 1870 something.
As she strolls through her farm, she sings a little song while exploring the landscape.
She passes the farm and also the animals. She also has carried a stick and sometimes scares off chickens with it.
An important part of the story happens right here. She touches the black soil and mini white bubbles slid the soil away. This resembles the time period very well since the black soil(symbolizing former slaves) is being taken over by white bubbles(white people) and soon destroys it all. White people have been doing this to African Americans by lynching, killing, and more.
As she strolls along, she gets her foot stuck in something. She looks down and it is a spooky corpse with her foot in his eye socket. She jus strait up takes her foot out with an expression like she's done it before a billion times. She noticed a pink rose growing in the remains of a noose. When she saw it, she decided to lay down her flowers.

The last words were "and summer was over." as if she knew what happened and left.
