I became a voyageur to help support my family because my father couldn't . I'm leaving behind my mother ,little Sister , my father and the people that live in Lachine .
I have become tired and exhausted from the beginning of this journey. I have gotten along with my brigade , even though they like to call me " Grandpa" , and tease me . I have gained so many blisters in this journey from paddling every day .
My brigade and I decided the rapids were to harsh ,so the brigade decided to portage. After I started my portage I thought about giving up many times . I'm the last one from my brigade still walking , they already made it to the meeting point . I am so blistered and weak.
On Lake Huron, it was sunny and warm. After my brigade and I made it on to Lake Superior, then waves started tumbling into our boat, and a storm had began. We set across the middle but eventually we couldn't continue , the storm was to harsh, so we stopped on an island .
From what I heard I was expecting Grand Portage to be much bigger than it is.It was also such a relief to know that I made it here.
I have decided on going back to Lachine with my brigade, because I want to go back and see my family. I will sign on again next spring, maybe next year I will have thoughts on becoming a clerk.
