While I was growing up I was very close to my mothers side of the family. From dinners, to moves, and more we would always spend time with my grandparents. My grandmother with an amazing heart of gold and my grandfather, the comedian who never failed to put a smile on my face.
When I was about 9 years old, my grandfather had gotten cancer, leukemia to be specific. He had received chemotherapy but it didn't help him get better. On one of his final days he had me come to his hospital bed. As I saw the tears build up in his eyes, he had given me a message that I will never forget, he told me that he was no longer going to be able to tell his jokes and make the family smile. He asked me if I would keep his smile for him and try to bring light to the lives of the people around me.
A couple months later I had found a bird in the window while spending time with my family. I think that this was a sign from him . And his message is something that i'll never forget. From that point on, I changed. Even on bad days I put a smile on my face because I know that everytime I do, my grandfather is looking down on me with pride. I miss him so much and I wish that I could see him again but I am happy that I can carry on his legacy.
