The main theme of The monsters are due on Maple Street Theme is don't judge a book by its cover. To start, on page 76 the crowd of the residents on Maple Street started to blame Les Goodman because his car started and no one else's car start. This shows that Les Goodman may have caused a little bit of suspicion that his car started, but it doesn't mean that they have to say that he is weird. To add on, on page 81 Charlie and the crowd of residents on Maple Street started to say that they need to have an eye on him because his wife, said that he stays up late at night to work on a radio set that they don't know of. This shows that they are making quick thoughts and not thinking them through it. This also shows that they are judging someone without knowing what they are actually doing. Lastly, on page 82, there was a dark figure walking on the street, which was Pete Van Horn but the crowd of residents of Maple Street started to say it was the monster and Charlie took the shotgun and killed Pet Van Horn. This shows that they killed a person that had nothing to do with something just because they weren't thinking clearly.
