  • 22 June 1941The Launching of Operation Barbossa
  • December 7, 1941Attack on Pearl Harbor
  • Operation Sea Lion is an invasion by the Nazi forces to Britain. The invasion force was mostly comprised of the German air force and its purpose was to demoralize the British people with a constant bombardment so that they would surrender. However, the British did not and this would waste resources for the Nazis which would later prompt them to attack the Soviet Union for resources which would change the course of the war.
  • June 6, 1944 D-Day
  • Operation Barbossa was when the Nazis broke their Nazi-Soviet Pact. This is important because this would soon lead to the British being able to recover whilst the Soviets attacked. This would be one of Hitler's most costly mistakes.
  • April 1, 1945 Okinawa
  • Pearl Harbor is one of the most important events in World War 2. When the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor by surprise, it inflicted massive casualties upon the Americans. This attack then sparked a rise in patriotism and helped get the U.S involved in WW2.
  • August 6, 1945The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
  • D-Day is one of the bloodiest days in World War 2 exacting massive casualties on the Allied Side and on the Nazi side. D-Day also was also important, as its objective was to establish a beachhead as a base of operations for the oncoming assault on the German frontier. The beachhead that was made possible by D-day that served as a beachhead also served as a way to deliver supplies to the Allies.
  • Okinawa was an important event in WW2 because of its massive casualties and the strategic importance of the island. Both sides suffered massive casualties due to the fierce combat that took place there, but the Japanese were hellbent on protecting this island as this was the bastion and last line of defense for the mainland. For the Americans, Okinawa provided a platform for invading the mainland.
  • The bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima had proved to the world how powerful nuclear weapons are. It exacted massive civilian casualties and leveled an entire city. It propelled the United States as well as the world into the Nuclear age which caused many conflicts such as the arms race in the Cold War.
