Storyboard Text

  • Stand By!
  • Go, go go!
  • William McRaven is training to become a US Navy Seal. During one of the training activities, he was expected to jump out of a plane. This was a routine jump from an altitude of 12,000 feet.
  • When they were ready, the jumpmaster yelled "go, go, go!" and he jumped out of the aircraft.
  • One of the other jumpers came into McRaven's path and deployed his parachute.  It hit him at 120 mph and sent him spiraling out of control.
  • McRaven deployed his parachute but it tangled around his legs and ripped his pelvis.
  • He landed about a mile from the landing zone and an ambulance came and took him to the hospital.
  • McRaven was in the emergency room and recovered from his injuries.  He was back to SEAL training after his injury.
