Hey Dad! In school today my teacher was talking about the cell theory, do you know how it was formed?
Yes I do! Glad you asked! It all started with five scientists discovering things on their own.
Wow! Did he discover anything else?
Robert Hooke, a scientist from England was the first person to come up with the word cell.
What did you see in that cork Mr. Hooke?
Yes, in fact he did! He discovered the motion of light and the rotation of Jupiter!
I noticed little spots all around the cork, that I have named cells.
Another scientist who helped form the cell theory, was Robert Brown.
Have you found anything Mr. Brown?
Yes, I did! I just discovered the nucleus!
Another very important scientist to help form the cell theory, was Matthias Schleiden.
He is considered the cofounder of the cell theory.
Hello Matthias, did you find anymore information on the cell?
I did! A cell is the basic unit of plant structure.
Hello, Theodor Schwann! You needed to tell me something?
This isn't the only thing Theodor discovered, he also discovered the enzyme pepsin!
Yes! I have found that all animal tissue is composed of cells!
One last scientist that helped discover the cell theory was Rudolf Virchow!
He had his own theory, which contributed to the cell theory
These five scientists I've talked about today, reached out to one another and combined their ideas, This is how the cell theory came to be!
All cells arise from preexisting cells!
