Impact of the Railroad
I'm glad we choose the railroad. we got here much faster.
WE WANT GOLD!!!
Homesteading was an act that occurred in 1862. This act consisted of the government giving 160 acres of land for free as long as the person agreed to live on the land for 5 years and improve it. With this land you can do whatever you wanted with it most people converted it to crop fields. But to grow crops you would have to live in a place, that consisted of rainy days.
Enjoy your stay!
Welcome to the Harvey Houses.
The impact of the railroad happened when a town was being recognized by something valuable that they had, everyone wanted to go to that town so the fastest way of transportation that they had was the railroad. the reason that they used the railroad was to get to that place as fast as they could so that they could be the first to get the good valuables.
WELCOME TO NEW MEXICO!
Welcome to New Mexico
Boom towns were towns that got widely known for whatever was being searched for during that time. the main thing that was being searched for was gold. gold was found my mining, once somebody found out about it then everyone knew then they started to go to the town where the gold was found. once the gold ran out then everyone abandoned the town. once they abandoned the town it became a ghost town.
who said that you could barge in here. like you own the place?
Harvey-houses were the most famous hotels, and restaurants. They were named after Fred Harvey.Harvey wads able to provide good food for cheap prices in the southwest.Because of the great food and service people decided to come back. Then the Harvey House became a big part of the Santa Fe Railroad's success.
Tourism was one of New Mexico's largest new businesses. The railroad brought the largest amount of people. Many tourist from around the world spent lots of money in NM, for train tickets, food, lodging, and souvenirs.
The wild west consisted mostly of outlaws, guns, crime, and violence. But the majority of New Mexico's citizens were good. Most of the crime that occurred was bad people trying to steal cattle from other ranchers.
