- Why they won’t let me have anymore slaves?
- Texas citizens meet up to think about what they should do. They were deciding if they should make peace with the Mexican government, or if they should become independent from Mexico. They couldn’t choose, so there became two parties. The war party and the Peace party. The war party wanted to separate from the Mexican government. And the peace party wanted to stick with the Mexican government.
- Mexico sent Mier Teran to go and write and report about what the Americans are doing. After two years he gets back and reports that the American influence is too strong, and he thinks the Americans might try to over throw Mexico. In retaliation, Mexico makes new laws that the Americans do not like.
- The Mexican government made new laws making restrictions. They made it to where you couldn’t import new slaves, they put taxes on goods from the U.S., Mexico only wanted settlers that were Mexican or European, and cancelled most empresario contracts. This made the settlers very mad, and started to want a revolution.
