I must help, to prevent any future attacks of my Geats.
Beowulf, we need your help! Grendel´s mom has attacked Herot.
What a horrific scene! I must slain this monster.
As the warriors slept, Grendel´s mom attacks Herot in rage to seek revenge from her son´s death. The warriors rush toward her with swords as she flees with Aeschere, Hrothgar´s adviser.
I must prepare myself for the worst.
Please take this, it is my faithful sword, Hrunting.
Hrothgar summons Beowulf to explain the occurrences and ask him to seek and kill Grendel´s mother. He tells him of the swamp and it´s magic qualities of burning water and an abyss that has never been reached.
My lord has brought me another challenge and once again, I have conquered.
The warriors reach the cliff and find Aeschere´s head lying on the ground. Serpents and sea-dragons are writhing in the murky water.
You are a brave warrior that has helped our Danes many times, thank you.
Beowulf prepares himself for combat by donning his armor and girding himself with weapons. Unferth loans him his great sword, Hrunting.
Hrunting would not pierce through her skin. Beowulf tries to fight the sea witch bare-handed, but she continues to match his blows. He notices an enormous sword hanging off the wall. He swings it powerfully and slices through Grendel´s mom´s neck, she falls to the ground, gushing with blood.
Beowulf returns to the surface with the head of Grendel and notices the water is no longer infested. Beowulf and the Geats return to Herot and present the head to Hrothgar. Hrothgar praises Beowulf for his deeds, predicts a great future for him, and promises to reward him with treasure.
