Hi guys, do you mind if I sit with you on the bus? All the other seats are full.
I must not be cool enough. Maybe I'm weird.
Uh, what are you talking about? You are literally standing in front of a seat. Why do you even want to sit with us?
Why do they have to be like that? I just wanted to make a friend on my first day of school. That made me pretty down about myself, and kind of annoyed with them They will pay for this!
That new kid is so weird, no wonder she has no friends to sit with!
Behaviour & Impact
What is she on about? Talk about an over reaction!
How could you say stuff like that behind my back?! You guys are dumb! I hate you so much and I hope you all die!
Polly is getting on the bus for her first day of high school. She really wants to be friends with those girls and thinks that she could sit with them and introduce herself. But the girls are taking up both of the seats. Instead of politely declining, the girls are quite snarky with their reply and that makes Polly thinks she isn't cool because they don't want to sit with her. Polly has a thinking error - labelling.
Wow, maybe I over-reacted. I wish I never said those things to them. Just because they didn't let me sit with them, that doesn't mean I can say those mean things to them
Polly has let the thought that she had get into her head and is feeling both annoyed and sad because she thinks she is weird, and the other girls are only confirming those beliefs. She can hear them talking about her behing her back which is making her feelings even stronger.
This is so relaxing. I love walking my dogs and listening to my favourite music to calm me down. I think I will go and apologise to those girls tomorrow.
Polly is having an emotional outburst and is taking out her anger on the two girls - Amanda and Sofia. She says some pretty mean things to them and the whole thing was pretty uncalled for. This makes Amanda angry, and Sofia is upset and wondering what she has done wrong.
Hey, I'm sorry for lashing out on you like that yesterday. What I did was wrong and I wanted to apologise.
It's okay, we accept your apology.
Polly has run off to the bathroom and is processing what just happened. She regrets what she said, and is upset about the whole situation. She realises that she had an overreaction and knows that she probably made the girls feel bad too.
Polly goes for a long walk with her dogs after school, and has her headphones on listening to her favourite music to calm her down. She has thought of a way to resolve the situation now that she is in a better mindset and is able to think straight.
Polly does a brave thing and apologises to Sofia and Amanda. She isn't expecting them to magically become friends, she just doesn't want to feel guilty from never saying sorry. Luckily for Polly, the girls accept her apology and are understanding of the situation
