The French middle and lower class were sick of being treated unfairly. They were also sick of the King spending more money than the government had.
Haitian Revolution Motive
The middle and lower classes had finally had enough of the injustice and wrote their own constitution starting the revolution. The rebels would then behead anyone who did not support the revolution.
Haitian Revolution Method
The French Revolution ended the French Monarchy and gave birth to the French Empire led by Napoleon. It also gave birth to the Haitian Revolution.
Haitian Revolution Result
The island of Haiti was owned by France who allowed slaves. The slaves had finally had enough and revolted because they saw the French citizens doing it. They thought they should be free as well.
A former slave by the name of Toussaint L'Ouverture joined the rebel cause and fought against the French. He and his rebels used violent guerrilla tactics to fight against the French.
By the end of the revolution, they had achieved two things: their independence from France and the abolition of slavery in most French colonies. They may have been granted independence but they fell into a 150-year long economic isolation due to a lack of trade.
