Leonard Mead goes out for his walk every night to get a whiff of the fresh air. The year is 2053 and nobody walks anymore. He's the only one that walks through the city during a cold November night like the one tonight. Most people stay home and watch TV.
He would whisper into every house because he wanted to be a part of everything. He had a very good imagination and was thinking of the warm desert, and the cold air blowing through the sky. He imagined Christmas and the white fluffy sheet of snow that covered the ground.
He's thinking of the people watching tv shows as he notices what time it is on his watch. While he stumbled over concrete covered by flowers and grass, uncared for, he had never noticed anyone walking on the streets in his many years of walking. He came up to an intersection where he decided to turn around and go home.
A voice called to the man saying “Stand still. Stay where you are! Don't move!”. He turned around in the cold and dark night and noticed the police car. In a city with a population of three million people,  he got stopped by the one police car left.
The automated voice from the police car asked his name, where he was going, and what he does for a living. He gave his name, what he does, and what he was doing outside. The lights hit him like a lighthouse hitting a ship. While they were talking, the moon beamed down upon them, chilling Leonard making him nervous.
As he was the only one outside taking a walk to get some fresh air, the police car told him to get in. Once he got in, he noticed that it reeked of steel. He was being taken to a Psychiatric center for research because nobody walks for fun anymore. As they were driving towards his house, there was a house that lit up along the way. The car kept driving down the street, passing his house. The street remained silent throughout the cold November night.
