The Romans overthrew Etruscan in 509 B.C.E. Once they had freedom they created a republic. In their republic their government allowed the citizens to elect one representative to rule on their behalf. The republic also made sure that no one could gain too much power.
When Rome became an empire, the government changed from representative democracy to the emperor gaining and having the most power. One example of how society changed was only the wealthiest families could hold political offices. An example of how economy changed was it became slave based.
The Roman empire had three main groups. The patricians, plebeians, and slaves. The patricians were the wealthiest and highest of the social classes and slaves were the lowest.
Theodosius issued the Edict of Thessalconica, which made Christianity. The Romans thought that Christianity was a threat and began to punish the Christians.
Reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire include, unemployment, inflation, urban decay, public decay, government corruption, and they got invaded by Barbarian tribes.
Romes golden age greatly impacted the Western civilizations. Some of their contributions consist pf aqueducts, public baths, markets, and juries.
