  • In 1857 Gregor Mendel conducted a famous study of inheritance using pea plants
  • Mendel realised that peas were either be pink or green. Meaning that the gene comes in two varieties, varieties known as alleles

  • Gregor then bread 2 green heterozygous peas which created 3 dominant green peas and 1 pink recessive pea.

  • To prove his research Gregor created a Punnet square. He also discovered that phenotype is the physical appearance and genotype is the alleles
