Hi, am Alicia Garza an American civil rights activist and writer known for co-founding the global Black Lives Matter movement.
Hi am Alicia Garza
I was born to a single mother in Oakland, California, on January 4, 1981. My first four years were spent in San Rafael, living with my African American mother and my mother's twin brother.

I tweeted Friday afternoon about the future threat to my life and others and used it as a recovery call for voters to help get Donald Trump out of the White House. I said on Twitter “The FBI visited my house today. They arrested a man in Idaho on weapons charges who they believe relate to white groups. They found my name on a list in his home, besides others.
I have to tell people this!
“We are voting for our lives this November. Black voters are saying loudly and clearly that they are unhappy with the country on every single level with the direction of this country, Trump’s presidents, and overall business conditions and that their votes can help to put our country on the path toward progress,” I said as the survey results were released Oct. 6.
The survey results were released Oct. 6.
I created #BlackLivesMatter with Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi, two of my sisters, as a call to action for Black people after 17-year old Trayvon Martin was death placed on trial for his murder and the killer, George Zimmerman, was not held responsible for the crime he committed. It was a response to the anti-Black racism that pervades our society and also, sadly, our movements.
Hi we are Alicia Garza sister
We were humbled when cultural workers, artists, designers and techies offered their work and love to grow #BlackLivesMatter behind a social media hashtag. Opal, Patrisse, and I created the donate for this project moving the hashtag from social media to the streets. Across the country working to end the many forms of harm changing our people. We’ve made space for the party and change of Black lives.
