  • I want some beans to eat, Mom.

  • My dear, eating beans produce H2O2, and this toxic product need NADPH.H+ to convert to water, the main mechanism for get NADPH.H is HMP pathway. In this glucose-6-P convert to 6-phosphoglucono-6-lactone by G6PDH, then to 6-phosphogluconate by lactonase ,finally to D-Ribulose-5-P by 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase. This mechanism is blocked in case of favism.

  • Also this mechanism give ribose-5- phosphate by the reaction of ribulose-5-phosphate in present of phosphopentose isomerase and give xylulose-5-phosphate in present of epimerase. Ribose and xylulose react with each other in present of transaldolase and transketolaseTo give fructose-6-phosphate and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate which use in glycolysis
