Prometheus, a Titan, was the creator of mankind. They were frail and helpless, but he took pride in his creations. Prometheus can been seen as a world parent, but only for the fact that he created humanity.
By defeating the Titans, the gods showed their power and place in the world. They are the supreme gods of earth. Supreme refers to their immense powers, like Zeus' Lightning.
Animal were less than humans, but were important in their own sense. Across Greeks myths and stories, animals have been sacrificed as to show honor for the Gods. Animals were a staple in Greek lie, and sacrificing such important resources would show gratitude.
