  • Monsieur! we have to land to refill our water supplies!
  • Phase 1: The early fur trade: 1500-1603
  • I wonder what these sea travelling thing is?
  • Phase 1: 1500-1603
  • Monsieur! See how many fish there are!
  • We need a way to maintain trade with the first nations trade with the first nations further west.
  • Phase 3: Rival networks: 1670
  • Maybe we could get Voyageurs and set up trading forts in the Great Lakes!
  • That would be a great idea! We could restore our trading with First nations
  • The French came to refill their water supplies along the east coast of America.
  • Phase 3: The life of a voyageur 1690s
  • France discovers the cod fish in the area., landing their boats. They later set up flakes.
  • Phase 5 Monopoly in the west: 1821-1870
  • Maybe because we did not finish our daily prayers.
  • This council men are deciding how they will maintain trade with the first nations further west and near the great lakes.
  • Phase 5: A glimpse of life at the Prairie fort. 
  • This shows the danger of being a voyageur. Sometimes voyageurs will have to swim to shore because of the tides. The water will be very cold but they have to do their job.
  • We have to deliver the resources! we must go by land and swim in this cold water.
  • I am not going to jump into those cold waters!
  • we have been hunting for hours and we have seen no Buffalo and only one beaver. We usually see lots of beavers when we are hunting.
  • The buffalo began to decrease because of how the Buffalo started to disappear, and beavers were scarce. 
  • When the bell announces the opening of the fort gates, the enclosure soon fills with Indians and traders. The few clerks in charge are busily engaged in measuring tea,sugar, ammunition; in examining furs and paying for them.
  • This is a good fur for us Europeans, I will give you guns for it.
