She gave him money for the blue suede shoes he wanted and hot coco and dinner.
"Goodnight! Behave yourself, boy!" she said, as she was looking out into the street where he was.
Roger wanted to say something more then "thank you m'am" to Mrs Luella, but although his lips moved, he couldn't even say that as he turned at the foot of the barren stoop and looked up at the large woman in the door. Then she shut the door.
