  • The Boston Massacre
  • Since Britan was in debt, Parliament ordered the colonists to provide food, transportation, candles, and quarters (places to live) for the British soldiers.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • Anything that was paper was taxed. To show that it had been taxed, there was a large blue stamp that they had to have on it. Colonists did not like this, so they attacked the tax collectors.
  • The Intolerable Acts
  • It was an utterly cold night and the colonists were throwing things at the soldiers. One of the soldiers thought that he heard the command to fire his gun. As the colonists moved closer, the soldiers fired in fear. Five colonists died and six were wounded.
  • Parliament put a tax on tea after the Boston Massacre, and the Colonists did not like it. One day, colonists dressed as Native Americans and ripped open hundreds of bags of tea and threw them into the ocean.
  • After the Boston Tea Party, Parliament decided to punish the colonists with acts they could not tolerate. Trade ships were forbidden to leave or enter the harbor until the lost tea was paid for. People throughout the colonies promised to send supplies.
