Storyboard Text

  • Growing up, my dad would always talk to me about Earthquakes since he was a Geologist who worked out of town. Dad would always tell me that if an Earthquake occurs and he's not with me at home, I should go to our kitchen and lie down under our sturdy dining table to stay protected.
  • Dad also told me to always be alert whenever our dog, Sense, would bark loudly non-stop. Dad told me that dogs act that way because they can apparently sense danger, even earthquakes.
  • I thought he was just hungry so I went to the kitchen in order to get him some treats.
  • One day, dad was out at work and I had just finished reading a book when I heard Sense barked the loudest barks I have ever heard.
  • As I was nearing the kitchen, I suddenly felt the ground shake. I now knew why Sense was barking at the top of his lungs. There was an Earthquake.
  • I suddenly remembered everything my dad told me about Earthquakes when I was younger. I hid under our sturdy dining table and waited for it to end.
  • When the earthquake finally stopped, I immediately went outside of the house and looked for Sense. He was safe. I was safe. But what about dad?
  • As it turns out, dad never made it back home.  The earthquake's epicenter was located in the same area where his workplace's building was in. The building collapsed and everyone in the building died. Fortunately, the earthquake didn't really affect the town that we lived in. However, I'll never get to see my dad again.
