1824- John Quincy Adams and the Corrupt Bargain
1828- Tariff of Abomination
1828- Jackson 1st election
John Quincy Adams was elected President over Andrew Jackson. Jackson thought this was a "corrupt bargain" because the Speaker of the House convinced Congress to elect John Quincy Adams.
1828- South Carolina Nullification
The Tariff of Abomination was a tariff, or a tax, that was supposed to protect an industry in the North. This was unfair to the people in the South.
1832- Worcester vs. Georgia
"The Kitchen Cabinet" was when Jackson and his friends met in the White House and discussed issues. They were not confirmed by the Senate.
1836- Trail of Tears
John C. Calhoun wanted South Carolina to nullify the tariff since it wasn't helping them, but South Carolina wasn't allowed to do that.
A court case that was fighting over whether Native Americans could stay in their land without a license.
Andrew Jackson sent the Cherokees out of their land and forced them to walk 4,000 miles to Oklahoma.
