Storyboard Text

  • Japan Colonization/ Imperialism
  • We have to be ready to move into China by tonight.
  • Yes Sir!
  • U.S. Oil/ Steel Embargo on Japan
  • I'm sorry China but you can't have anymore oil.
  • Fine then, you'll be sorry.
  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the Surprise Attack
  • Japan wanted more power because they were made that they didn't get any land from the first world war. So, then they started to take over different parts of China and Korea. Eventually, Japan grew bigger and they began to push people out of their land.
  • Germany and the Soviet Union make an alliance
  • And so do I.
  • I look forward to working with Germany.
  • The U.S. decided to put the oil embargo on Japan because they heard about all the terrible things that they were doing and they can't do a whole lot without oil. So, since the  U.S. did this, it was the main reason that Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.
  • FDR/ "Date that will live in infamy"
  • I ask Congress that we go to war with Japan.
  • Because the U.S. put the oil and steel embargo on Japan, they decided to attack. They also thought that the U.S. was their biggest threat. They can in on planes and they basically bombed almost everything in Pearl Harbor and that had a huge impact on many people in Hawaii.
  • The Dust Bowl
  • Germany saw that France was trying to make an alliance with the Soviet Union and they didn't want that because then Germany would have a very powerful army fight against them. So, Germany got to the Soviet Union first and they made an alliance called the Axis powers.
  • This was a speech that was given by FDR. He gave a speech about what happened at Pearl Harbor and how it impacted different people. Then, he asked Congress to allow him to declare war on Japan
  • This was a major dust storm that causes many people to get different diseases. These storms would make many houses fill up with dust and it would be like if you were eating the dust. This was all caused because of the lack of rain in that area.
