  • Lewis and Clark first set out for their expedition 
  • August 17, 1805
  • Sgt. Charles Floyd dies in Iowa and is buried.
  • March 7, 1806
  • We can use crab tree bark instead
  • Sacagewa, the wife of the French interpreter, Toussaint, gives birth to her son, John Baptiste.
  • September 23,1806
  • Lewis finds the Shoshones and attempts to get horses and it is discovered that the Shoshone chief is Sacagawea's brother. Lewis and Clark name the place Camp Fortunate because of their luck.
  • The expedition runs out of tabacco
  • We have no more tobacco!
  • The men finally return home from the two and a half year expedition.
