  • Our demands are simple we don't want to work Public Holiday's/ Saturday's or Sunday's!
  • I would like to work less hours. per day.
  • I am with the rest of the members.
  • Good day, Union members I am here to talk about the wage negotiations coming up and what your demands are?
  • I would like the union to negotiate wages every alternate year as we forever wait for our increases and it always a battle with management.
  • We want a 7% increase on our salary.
  • Day day Mrs Watkins and Mr Theunissen thank you for the opportunity to discuss with you the employees demands for 2020
  • I agree Mrs Watkins
  • Hello Sifiso
  • Oh dear that is quite a list we will need to reconvene so that I can discuss with HR Sifiso.
  • Hello Sifiso is it that time already to hold wage discussions?
  • Yes Mrs Watkins here are the list of demands (i) 7% Increase; (ii) Shorter working hours; (iii) No work on Public holidays/ Saturday's or Sunday's and lastly; (iv) we want to negotiate for a two year period.
  • Mrs Watkins I have given it much thought and consulted with legal with assistance on the matter.(i) according to our business model we can only afford 6% this year as the business was not doing so great; (ii) Legal has advised that the maximum normal hours employees can work are 45 hours per week.; (iii) Public holiday's/ Saturday's as well as Sunday's we can request them to work but it's up to the employees to decide to work or not.; (iv) I think that is a great proposal but we should put a clause in it as it will depend on the business performance over a year period.
  • Mr Theunissen I think it's reasonable under the circumstances we found ourselves in this year lets take it to the representatives of the employees.
  • Mr Theunissen do you have any solutions to our employees demands?
  • Union having a meeting with union members to discuss wage demands.
  • Hi Sifiso we have come up with a few proposals and agreements hope that you will be able to take it back to the employees.

  • Oh no argh we will never win with this people
  • That is better than nothing atleast we can decline not to work.
  • Hey guys management has respondent to our demands and said the following (i) according to our business model they can only afford 6% this year as the business was not doing so great; (ii) They indicated that the maximum normal hours are 45 hours per week.; (iii) Public holiday's/ Saturday's as well as Sunday's we can request from management if and when needed but you guys will need to decide.; (iv) they have agreed to the bi-annual negotiations but will discuss the business performance over a year period.
  • Sounds good to me.
  • I'll raise further points and give feedback
  • Oh well it's something.
  • Hello Mrs Watkins and Mr Theunissen the employees has agreed to most terms and conditions but would like to have an increase of 6.5% instead of the 6% offered and also would like to know what next years offer is going to be now that we agreed on an every two year negotiation.
  • Discussion amongst management.
  • Hello Sifiso 6.5% is manageable but it would remain 6.5% next year as well as the business is still recovering from Covid.
  • I'll get back to you with the employees response.
  • Hi Sifiso we will consider the 6.5% requested.
  • Management discuss the employees demands with union official and to go engage with them about it.
  • Union Official giving feedback to the employees with regards to their demands.
  • 6% nah maybe 6.5% and what will the wage increase be for next year now that they agreed on negotiations every alternate year?
  • Feedback to management from the employees.
