This story is about a young girl named Allison who wants to be a hero by making the world a better place.
There was a young girl named Allison. Her life was pretty interesting. She's a young, kind, caring girl with big dreams. She's in elementary school so life hasn't been so far that bad. She has always loved seen people happy and loved making other happy. Allison always had a sense that this world would become a better place. She thought of everything she could do to make it possible, until one day she did it.
It all started on January 15, 2010 when she didn't go to school. She had no clue why until her mother Amanda told her it was Martin Luther King's Day. She thought about it for a while but she was completely lost. She decided to go to her mother and ask her what it meant. She said to her "Mom, what's Martin Luther King's Day all about?" Her mother thought about it for a while. After a few minutes she said "It's a long story Allison, I'm not so sure how to explain it."
She went up to her room and decided to look up what it meant. She saw all these websites explaining good things about him and clicked on one that said "www.greathistory.com." She saw a speech and read it to herself. Allison felt so inspired by how he was explaining how he wanted to stop racism and have all types of people come together as one without anyone judging. To her that made her feel that if she puts her heart into it she can make a difference the way he did. As she kept reading the speech tears started falling down her eyes. She thought about how she can be him one day and change the world.
After a few days reading about Martin Luther King she came to conclusion that she should have a fundraiser. She thought that by having a fundraiser she would help all the people that have been part of the tragic events in the world. The one problem she had was getting the approval from her mother. She went down stairs and said to her "Mom, I ave a great idea." Her mother replied saying "What's your idea Allison?" Allison said to her "We should have a fundraiser to help out the people that have part of the tragic events." Her mother thought about it and said "Wow that's a great idea." She was so happy that her mother was on board.
As they were gathering their thoughts on how to plan the fundraiser, they were trying to figure out where the fundraiser was going to be. They felt that having it at their house was a great idea. They pictured having a restaurant donate money for them to sell and the money they get will go to the people. She went to restaurants like Subway and Dunkin Donuts and the workers gladly supported Allison and her mother in their cause.
It was the day of the fundraiser and they had so much to do. Allison and her mother went to the store to buy balloons and all kinds of decorations to attract attention. With the help of her mother they were able to put the signs and posters all around their neighborhood and set up all the decorations. The sigs and posters said things like "Come join us in raising funds for the people that have been part of the tragic events." Many people came to the fundraiser and helped out a lot. It worked out perfectly and Allison was so happy that she had the opportunity to do something good in life. Martin Luther King is really a king in Allison eyes.
