Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy is a rich man whom Elizabeth Bennet despises so much because he snubbed her at a ball.
He’s so frustrating! He didn’t even ask me to dance when we were left alone by his friend and my sister.
Unbeknownst to her, he would fall in love with her when she took care of her sick sister in his friend’s place, despite her voicing out her contempt to him.
Oh… that smile.
In the next event, Darcy danced with her, butshe thought it was because he tries to be civil and to redeem his past disrespect.
You don’t have to dance with me if you only seekto change my judgment for you. You’re only making it worse.
Dramatic irony happens when the audience knows something that the character doesn't, just like Elizabeth, who reprehended Darcy because she doesn't know that he loves her.
