  • .  There are 3 types of rocks, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks formed from the cooling of magma/lava. It mostly looked like crystal. Some also have the gas bubble. Sedimentary rocks form from the erosion of existing rocks. It can break easily and contained fossils. It layered or striped. Metamorphic rocks formed from existing rocks through a process called metamorphism. It may have mineral grains in its alignment. It gets buried very deep under pressure and heat where it doesn't melt, it morphs. 
  • The fossil record is a historical sequence of life indicated by fossil found in layers of Earth's crust. Most fossils are found in sedimentary rocks. To be fossil organisms have to be buried in mud, sand, or clay after they die. Its compressed over time and harden into sedimentary rock. Scientists determined the age of the fossil by using a method called relative dating. Relative dating used a law called the Law of Superposition. It tells us that the bottom layer of the rocks is the oldest so is the fossils in that layer and the top layer is the younger layer. Fossils found in each layer provide an order for the appearance of species.

  • The Ozone layer protected us from the sun's ray. Our ozone layer is formed by the lightning that struck Earth 4.4 billion years ago. Our atmosphere was dominated by volcanic gases because back then our Earth is hot and have a lot of volcanic activity. The volcanic gases mostly were water vapor, which as the temperature drop, it would rain and form our oceans. After that our Earth was then dominated by nitrogen, but there was no oxygen. The biological era was the evolution of the atmosphere because there was a decrease in carbon dioxide and increase in oxygen. The reason for the decrease in carbon dioxide is because of the photosynthetic life. Photosynthesis increases the level of oxygen but it was absorbed by the "banded rock" and "red bed" rock formations. But around 1 billion years ago the rock formations became saturated and free the oxygen.
