Piggy is shy and intelligent. He uses these traits to his advantage on the island

"I ought to be chief..." page 22
Jack is aggressive, savage, and almost desperate (to be leader)
"He was a hunter all right." ~everyone, page 83
The author's attitude towards Ralph is very positive. He describes him in much light and considering. My reaction towards Ralph was impressed. He was the one who remained the most civilized throughout the entire thing and attempted to step up for the right reasons.
The author's attitude towards Piggy is less nice. They aren't complimenting to him compared to other characters. My reaction towards Piggy was sad upon hearing his death. Piggy always tried to keep everyone on track and his death was unfair and unexpected.
The author's attitude towards Jack is least positive then any. Jack was made out to be the one that 'cracked' among them. My reaction towards Jack was surprised. Jack turned savage very quickly and only cared about being in charge over anything. He was not leadership potential.
