Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York City, NY. Jordan was the third son of James and Delores Jordan.
As a young child Jordan moved to Wilmington, North Carolina.
Jordan attended Trask Middle school before moving to North Caroline. After moving, Jordan attended Emsley A. Laney High School and didn't care too much about acedemics.
Jordan participated in the sports baseball, football, and basketball and excelled in baseball.
In 1978, as a sophomore, Jordan tried out for the Emsley A. Laney High School basketball team. There was only 15 roster spots for varsity and sadly, Jordan did not make the varsity team. This is because he was only 5'10" and could not yet dunk a basketball. Therefore, the last spot was given to his 6'7" friend who was able to dunk.
Although, Jordan did play for the Junior varsity team, this still crushed his hopes and dreams . Jordan felt embarrassed and went home and locked himself in his bedroom alone and cried.
