A trip to Ancient Rome

Storyboard Text

  • I wish to go to Ancient Rome.
  • Sure thing, kid.
  • Whoooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
  • Rome was built on the Tiber River in present-day Italy. There were three groups that inhabited it from 1000 BC to 500 BC - the Greeks, Latins, and Etruscans. An Etruscan became king in 600 BC.
  • Hey kid.
  • The last king was Tarquin the Proud. He was a tyrant and was driven from power in 509 BC
  • We want a republic! We will form a republic!
  • N000000O!
  • The Roman Senate was created, with two groups: the Plebeians and the Patricians.
  • Fine!
  • Only the patricians knew all the laws, and they sometimes abused their rights. So the Plebeians revolted.
  • The Patricians were wealthy landowners, while the Plebeians were the general people.
  • Give us an assembly of our own!
  • In the Republic, the senate elected two consuls as leaders.
  • The Plebeians formed their own assembly and had representatives called tribunes.
  • We command the army and direct the government.
