  • These models offer the hope of building spacetime from abstract algebra using higher category theory.
  • What a crackpot, indeed! We string theorists are pursuing a more algebraic approach to understanding the different p-branes in string theory. Some new understanding comes from the application of what we also call higher category theory.
  • I hope that there is no need to elaborate that in string theory and related theories such as supergravity theories, a brane is a physical object that generalizes the notion of a point particle to higher dimensions. 
  • Of course! I know that branes are dynamical objects which can propagate through spacetime according to the rules of quantum mechanics. I know that you know that they have mass but did you know that they can have other attributes such as charge?
  • You quantum gravitists assume you know everything. Well, you don't. And, yes. I am cognizant, even before you grew a brain, that branes can have charge attributes.
  • We'll keep on working with other quantum alternatives to string theory. Also, I've finally reached to a conclusion that it would not make sense to work with string theorists.
  • I totally agree. In fact, our approaches are completely different.
