Michelangelo was a sculptor, engineer, painter, architect, and poet during medieval times. He shaped marble into statues and became very famous for it. He was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci and many other artists. He was hired by Pope Julius.
I am Michelangelo. One of my biggest accomplishments was my painting on the ceiling and walls of the Sistine Chapel. I worked for 4 years to complete it. On the ceiling and walls of the chapel, I showed his support of humanism by painting people living their best life in the here and now.
Humanism is an intellectual movement. It was the heart of the Italian Renaissance. If a person is a humanist that means that they focus on the here and now in life. They don't always think about the afterlife. They are proud of individual accomplishments and support one another.
William Shakespeare was an amazing play and song writer. He was born and died in the United Kingdom. He was most famous for his plays that were enjoyed by the rich and the poor.
ROMEO AND JULIET
I'm William Shakespeare. One of my most famous plays was Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, humanism is shown because my play is about two people loving each other in the here and now. In the end both of the characters die, but they do it for each other and not for the idea of the afterlife.
A humanist is someone who doesn't look forward to the afterlife, but to what will happen in the very day that they are living. They are focused on improving themselves and celebrate their accomplishments and the accomplishments of others. Shakespeare is a humanist because his plays focused on real life experiences that people may go through.
