Storyboard Text

  • First Step:
  • So say you were given the compound H2O. The first thing you need to do is to multiply the molar mass of each element by the number of atoms. Then add together.
  • H2OHydrogen- 2 atomsOxygen- 1 atom2 x 1.008= 2.0161 x 16.00= 16.002.016 + 16.00= 18.016
  • Second Step:
  • Next take the molar mass of each element and divide it by the molar mass of the compound.
  • 2.016/ 18.016= 0.11116.00/18.016= 0.888
  • Last Step:
  • 0.111 x 100= 11.1 -- 110.888 x 100= 88.8 -- 8911 + 89 = 100
  • The last thing you have to do is multiply the decimal by 100% and round and add together and it should be 100.
