In the spring of 1607, sailing for the Muscovy Company, Hudson, his son John, and 10 companions set forth to discover a passage by the North Pole to Japan and China.
byeeeeeeeee!
As they sailed toward what they expected to be a sunny and green place they were met with snow and ice. They were blocked by ice from going any further.
After 2 unsuccessful voyages, a third voyage was taken northeast and 2 channels to the pacific across North America were reported, 1 of those were reported by English soldier, explorer, and Colonist Capt. John Smith.

Unsuccessful in his 3rd voyage, Hudson sailed from Holland on April 6, 1609. He ignored his agreement to forget about the northwest passage, but sought it out anyway.
Sailing from London on April 12, 1610, in the 55-ton Vessel Discovery, Hudson stopped briefly in Iceland. He passed through and entered the Hudson Bay.
The Discovery sailed home to England, neither of the ring leaders returned with her, having been killed in a fight with Eskimos. Hudson was never seen again.
