Storyboard Text

  • Searching for hope.
  • Run that mouth
  • Car conniption
  • "distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock. When I looked once more for Gatsby he had vanished," (Chapter 1). Gatsby would always look at the green light looking for hope to have her again.
  • Myrtle's death
  • "“Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!” shouted Mrs. Wilson. “I’ll say it whenever I want to! Daisy! Dai"Making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand." (Chapter 1). Myrtle was jealous of Daisy and being a smart mouth and it angered Tom alot so he broke her nose.
  • Gatsby's death
  • "A pale well-dressed negro stepped near. “It was a yellow car,” he said, “big yellow car. New.” ( Chapter 8). Earlier Tom was driving the yellow car. George thought Tom ran over Myrtle, when it was actually Daisy but Gatsby said he did to save Daisy from getting in trouble.
  • Gatsbys funeral
  • "Myrtle Wilson’s body, wrapped in a blanket, and then in another blanket, as though she suffered from a chill in the hot night, lay on  a work-table by the wall, and Tom, with his back to us, was bending over it, motionless." (Chapter 7). Tom loved Myrtle for her physical appearance not for who she is. he was really upset when he saw her laying on the table.
  • "I tried to think about Gatsby then for a moment but he was already too far away and I could only remember, without resentment, that Daisy hadn't sent a message or a flower." (Chapter 9).   Letting go of painful memories in the past was hard but leads to the kind of abandonment that follows Gatsby’s death.
  • "I found myself on Gatsby's side, and alone."(Chapter 9). The truth is that Nick is the only person who cares about Gatsby as a human being rather than a sideshow.
