The Missouri Compromise was when few states were free of slaves and few were not. It was also a line splitting from the south and Missouri.
The cause of the compromise was that they didn't want slavery to be unfair. They believed that having on extra state slave free was unfair and needed to be changed.
also, the northerners had to do there own work while the southerners did not, they had slaves that did the work for them.
in my personal opinion, i think this was a very fir and unfair idea. it was fair because it was equal but at the same time it was unfair because slavery should slowly be coming to an end.
Henry Clay was the man in charge of it all. He suggested the idea of the Missouri Compromise.
Maine was a free state which made Missouri the state with slaves.
The compromise addressed the question of slavery in the rest of the Louisiana purchase.
