The novel Fahrenheit 451 first introduces us to Guy Montag and his wife Mildred. Montag's job as a fireman is to start fires instead of putting them out.
You can't take my books !
This scene describes about Montag's encounter with Clarisse because it is very important. Clarisse begins to make Montag question whether he is happy or not.
Montag, I want another wall.
After walking with Clarisse, Montag arrives at his home and goes straight to his bedroom and expects Mildred to be lying in bed with her seashells but instead finds her breathing shallow and realizes that she took multiple sleeping pills and plumbers then come and clean her system with a couple machines.
Another event that happened was when Montag responds to an alarm and they arrive at a old woman's house because she was found with books. He was shocked because she chose to be burned alive with her books.
Montag the next morning finds Mildred cooking breakfast and is acting normal considering what happened the night before. Mildred just wants to talk about getting another "wall" which is a TV. She already has 3 but wants another and it would cost $2,000 which Montag then says that it is a third of his yearly salary.
Montag goes to work and when he encounters the Mechanical hound, when he goes to pet its head, it growls at him therefore Montag believe it doesn't like him. When he meets the other crew members, he tells Captain Beatty that the Mechanical hound doesn't like him and he then tells Montag that its programmed therefore it doesn't have feelings.
