Storyboard Text

  • During the Scramble for Africa, Sudan was one of the countries that got taken over from the 1890's to 1953.
  • The British were able to easily take over because there was a revolt in Sudan so the leader had no choice but to let them take over.
  • Europeans have the duty to colonize as we are the superior race.
  • The Europeans are racist and have been mistreating our people ever since they came.
  • Sudan got its independence in 1956 after the Constituent Assembly used a document known as a Transitional Constitution.
  • The Transitional Constitution replaced the governor general as head of state with a Supreme Commission that was elected by a parliament composed of an indirectly elected House of Representatives.
  • The British left the Arab Muslims the power with the Transitional Constitution. There were many effects from the colonization.
  • The English leaving didn't help much. The country was now split up. South Sudan against North.
  • Although the colonization from the United Kingdom did bring some advances in medicine, the country is now split up and very underdeveloped and has a lot of poverty.
