Hey, do you know why we can't fly?
Yeah, I do, it's because we evolved from a flying bird to a bird that had swimming flippers.
Why did that happen? And how?
It was a mutation that happened eons ago in our ancester, and then once that gene entered the gene pool, it became the more favorable gene.
Why was it the favorable gene?
That's because our food source; which is fish, shrimp, and krill are all found underwater. That made flippers an advantage.
Oh, I get it now!
Because something called selective breeding occurred. Our ancestors only bred with others with flippers, so eventually the birds with wings died off and that left no more wing genes in the gene pool.
So then how come there are no more flying penguins?
