When he tries to reach for his pipe, he ends up falling off the yacht and into the water. Unable to swim back to the yacht, Rainsford sees a island in sight and swims to it.
I must find land and take coverage.
He comes across a house in the island. He meets General Zaroff and his servant Ivan. He is treated as a guest.
Welcome to my house Rainsford.
General Zaroff is also a hunter and admits that he wants a better prey to catch. He tells Rainsford that he will be his next prey and Rainsford is shocked. He first refused to be hunted but accepts the challenge.
What?! This is absurd!
You will be my prey for my greatest hunt yet!
For three days, Rainsford is being hunted down like a prey by Zaroff. He successfully kills Ivan and one of Zaroff's dogs but is foumd by Zaroff. Having no where to go, he jumps off a cliff, making Zaroff believe he is dead.
Good luck at hiding from me Rainsford! I will find you!
I must survive.
Rainsford goes back to Zaroff's house and suprises him. Zaroff is suprise he is still alive and accepts losing the hunt. The final duel between Rainsford and zaroff is held.
Suprise! I'm not dead and now we must duel to the death!
I thought you were dead Rainsford?! How did you survive?!
