Conflict = Socs VS Ponyboy
Character = Sodapop
The setting in this scene changes Ponyboy and his self-esteem and forces him to become a hero. Not only just a hero this scene also forced Ponyboy into the high-pressure situations like saving the kids from the church
This part of the story made Ponyboy feel scared of the Socs because they jumped him for no reason and told him that they were going to cut him.
Sodapop makes a big impact for Ponyboy because he cares for him, and he's the nicer brother. When Ponyboy was hiding in the church Sodapop sends him a letter to check in on him, as the scene when Dally identifies the letter as, "It's from Soda" (81).
