  • Setting = Church
  • Conflict = Socs VS Ponyboy 
  • Character = Sodapop
  • The setting in this scene changes Ponyboy and his self-esteem and forces him to become a hero. Not only just a hero this scene also forced Ponyboy into the high-pressure situations like saving the kids from the church
  • This part of the story made Ponyboy feel scared of the Socs because they jumped him for no reason and told him that they were going to cut him.
  • Sodapop makes a big impact for Ponyboy because he cares for him, and he's the nicer brother. When Ponyboy was hiding in the church Sodapop sends him a letter to check in on him, as the scene when Dally identifies the letter as, "It's from Soda" (81).
