Missouri should be a state!
The North did not want Missouri to become a slave state because the voting would become uneven. The North was also worried that anytime they wanted to make a law or bill that went against slavery they wouldn't be allowed to.
The North and South decided to make a compromise when it came to making Missouri a state and which state it would be. The states came up with the Missouri Compromise, which stated that Missouri would become a slave state and Maine would become a free state to make things even.
The South wanted Missouri to become a slave state because they would have another states votes in elections. The more states that the South had the more power that they had which is why they wanted Missouri to become a slave state.
