The Bingleys move to Netherfield Park and host a ball that the five unmarried Bennett sisters attend, in hopes by their mother, of finding suitable husbands. Jane Bennett and Charles Bingley end up dancing several times and quickly become taken by the other's beauty and personality. At the same time Mr. Darcy, who is Bingley's best friend, refuses to dance with Elizabeth, thinking himself above it which makes everyone view him as obnoxious and arrogant.
Throughout the next few weeks Charles and Jane grow even more fond of each other and Darcy is finding himself increasingly more attracted to Elizabeth's charm and intelligence. Jane pays a visit to their mansion and is caught in a downpour, quickly growing sick which caused her to stay at Netherfield for a few days. Mr, Bingley doesn't appear to like Elizabeth because she shows up there in a muddy dress. Miss Bingley's disdain for Elizabeth only grows when she then notices Mr. Darcy paying a lot of attention to Elizabeth.
When the Bennett sisters return home Mr. Collins proposes to Elizabeth who turns his offer down, and Mr. Collins later marries Elizabeth's friend Charlotte. Mr. Bingley moves away coaxed by Darcy because he believed Jane doesn't actually love him.
Elizabeth goes to Rosings Park where to her surprise Mr. Darcy proposes to her. She rejects him and he then gives her a long letter as she leaves, detailing his feelings for her. After reading his letter many times and reflecting on Wickam's true character, she slowly begins to realize she feels the same way about him. Lizzy goes to Netherfield and unexpectedly meets Darcy as well as his sister there. Lydia runs away with Mr. Wickam and the Bennett family begins to freak out.
Darcy pays Wickam a huge sum of money which is enough to pay off all his debts, for him to marry Lydia and in turn clear the Bennett's family name because he can tell it means a lot to Lizzy.
Mr. Darcy asks Lizzy to marry him and this time she says yes. Darcy and Elizabeth marry!
