Marshall Court STORYBOARD
This storyboard does not have a description.
The people feel that it is unnecessary to tax the people just because they are not registered with the national state bank. Specially for those people who came from other states and taxed because they are on a different bank. The national bank are indeed being taxed either.
Chief Justice John Marshall wrote that the federal government did indeed have the right and power to set up a federal bank. Further, he wrote, a state did not have the power to tax the federal government. "The right to tax is the right to destroy," he wrote, and states should not have that power over the federal government.
This gives power to the national government because according to the judge, the federal government in fact have the right to create a national bank.
