Thomas More didn't know whether to enter the Roman Catholic priesthood or be a Lay Christian. He ultimately decided to remain a Lay Christian.
Thomas More had 4 children with his first wife Jane Colt, but she later died and he remarried to another woman named Alice Middleton who's spouse also died and she had one daughter
Thomas More success as a lawyer got him noticed by the King and Royal Court in 1521 and he was made treasurer and knighted
However in 1534, Moore refused to acknowledge King Henry as head of the church over the pope. Because of this, he was found guilty of treason and sentenced to execution and later beheaded. In 1935, he was canonized by Pope Pius XI.
