Mom my hairspray stopped working! I was doing my hair, then after a while nothing was coming out of the container
It has to do with the pressure inside the container. I know you failed Science, so I'll help explain to you
Let me Google for you why hairspray does this
Why Does Hairspray Eventually Not Release Any Hairspray? Over time of using a hairspray can, the pressure inside the can becomes equal to the normal atmospheric pressure outside the can, no longer allowing hairspray to be forced out of the can. Pressure wants to go from high to low pressure. At the factories, pressurized air is forced into the rigid aluminium can, adding more molecules of gas into the can, those molecules will hit the wall of the can more frequently, creating a higher pressure. When hairspray is released from the can, gas is also released with it since the inside of the can has a higher pressure compared to outside the can. Having less molecules of gas inside the can means the gas molecules won't hit the wall as frequently, decreasing the pressure until it is equal to outside the can. This is also known as Avogadro's Law
You see Amy? In these different examples showing the difference in pressure, can 1 is getting pressurized gas, and the molecules are hitting the wall of the can more frequently, increasing the pressure. In can 2, it's losing the molecules, and since there are less molecules in the can, not as many molecules hit the wall, decreasing the pressure in the can
Yes, now I know that my hairspray can lost gas pressure, preventing any hairspray to come out since the pressure inside the can was the same to the pressure outside the can
So now do you understand why your hairspray didn't spray any hairspray?
Well by the looks of it, due to Avogadro's Law, I need to buy a new hairspray can since there's no more pressure left inside
